Setting the standard for safe water delivery in critical care Markwik 21 + thermostatic taps

Markwik 21 + has low static water volume and makes extensive use of anti-microbial brass.

Thermostatic cartridge

Thermostatic cartridge features a one-piece design for ease of changing and cleaning, and uses minimal plastics, reducing bacteria build-up compared with other designs.

Department of Health HTM 04-01 advises that hand washing is best performed under running water at a safe, stable and comfortable temperature. However with water temperatures in hospitals and healthcare facilities kept high – often in excess of 65°C – it is essential that vulnerable people are protected from the dangers of scalding, which is listed by NHS England as one of its ‘Never Events’.

HTM 04-01 recommends that where there is a risk of scalding to vulnerable patients, water should be delivered via Thermostatic Mixing Valve (TMV) equipped outlets. TMV taps currently provide the best way of ensuring water for handwashing is delivered at a safe and constant temperature, and if there is an interruption in supply – turn-off quickly. As Markwik 21 + TMV taps compensate for both the water supply pressure and temperature, they are the ideal choice for use in critical care facilities.

Fewer polymers, more metal

To discourage bacteria, the Markwik 21 + cartridge is manufactured with more anti-microbial brass. Where engineering polymers are used, we have chosen grades that are less attractive to bacteria.
