The Villeroy & Boch Group has received official validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its long-term climate targets. The validation confirms that the Group’s global decarbonisation strategy is compatible with the Paris Agreement and the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C. By 2030, Villeroy & Boch aims to reduce direct Scope 1 and 2 CO₂ emissions from its own operations by 45%, while Scope 3 emissions across the supply chain are targeted to fall by 25% compared with the 2021 base year. By 2050, the Group aims to achieve net-zero emissions across its entire value chain. Significant progress has already been made. Between 2021 and 2025, the Group reduced its total carbon footprint by 27.2%, with Scope 1 and 2 emissions falling by 34.5% and supply chain emissions by 24.8%. Measures include improved energy efficiency, long-term green electricity agreements, increased use of renewable energy, kiln optimisation and heat recovery, alongside research into kiln electrification and the use of green hydrogen. By 2045, Villeroy & Boch plans to invest more than €140 million in decarbonisation, including over €25 million by 2030 for kiln optimisation and heat recovery.

The Villeroy & Boch Group has been awarded the EcoVadis Platinum Medal, the highest distinction in the globally recognized EcoVadis sustainability rating. EcoVadis evaluates companies across 21 criteria in four core areas: Environment, Labour & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The assessment is based on globally recognised standards and provides companies with a data-driven analysis of their sustainability performance. With an overall score of 85 out of 100, the Group ranks among the top 1% of more than 130,000 companies assessed worldwide.

Particularly high scores were achieved in Environmental Responsibility and Labour & Human Rights.

Initiatives include energy efficiency measures in production, investments in workplace safety, leadership development, and social audits to ensure human rights and ethical standards in the supply chain.
